Habil Kommunar oghlu Azizov was born on 19 January 1968 in the settlement of Vurghun in the Aghstafa district.
He was admitted to the D. Bunyadzada Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy (present-day UNEC).
One year later, he left to perform compulsory military service. He completed his service in Riga and then returned to continue his studies at the institute.
While studying part-time, he worked at the state farm administration in Aghstafa.
In January 1990, Habil, then a third-year student, had come to Baku to take part in the winter examination session.
On 19 January, after finishing his exam, he celebrated his birthday with friends. Later that night, as Soviet troops entered Baku, Habil separated from his friends and went out into the city. He was martyred after being struck by a Soviet tank.
He was buried in the Martyrs’ Alley in Aghstafa. His photograph has been immortalized in the Martyrs’ Alley in Baku as well. The secondary school he attended now bears his name.
