Nazim Jabrayilov

(1949-1994)

Jabrayilov Nazim Ibrahim oghlu was born on 2 March 1949 in the city of Aghdam.
In 1970, he graduated from the Faculty of “Economics of Trade” at the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy (present-day UNEC).
Upon assignment, he was sent to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, where he worked in the SEDM division of the Ashgabat City Department of Internal Affairs.
He later studied at the Kaliningrad Police School and obtained a second-specialty diploma.
After working for some time, he returned to his homeland and served as a military engineer in Military Motor Unit No. 2711.
From the moment Armenia launched its military aggression against Azerbaijan in 1988, Nazim Jabrayilov was among the first defenders of the Motherland and remained continuously at the front line.
Actively participating in the battles for Karabakh, Second Lieutenant N. Jabrayilov was appointed platoon commander by order of the Ministry of Defence.
In recognition of his exceptional courage and bravery, he was promoted ahead of schedule to the rank of Captain on 13 April 1994.
He was martyred on 18 April 1994.
The Armenian side did not return Nazim Jabrayilov’s body to his family.
Following his death, he was awarded the country’s highest decoration, the Order of the Azerbaijani Flag.
The martyr’s wife, Rahila Jabrayilova, authored the book “A Monument to Immortality”, which chronicles his honourable life and military service.
