Saleh Safarov

(1954-1993)

Saleh Safar oghlu Safarov was born on 1 February 1954 in Aghdam.
He completed his secondary education at School No. 1 in Aghdam.
In 1970, he was admitted to the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy named after Dadash Bunyadzada (present-day UNEC) and graduated in 1974.
From 1974 to 1976, he served in the military in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine.
Upon completing his military service, he worked as an inspector at the Aghdam District Finance Department.
In 1977, he enrolled in the part-time division of the Aghdam Agricultural Technical College and graduated in 1980.
In 1983, he was appointed Senior Inspector at the Aghdam District Police Department.
He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1986 and Major in 1990.
In 1991, Saleh Safarov entered the part-time program of the Faculty of Law at Baku State University.
In 1992, he began working in the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
From the outset of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, he stood alongside the personnel of the department in the defense of the Aghdam district center and surrounding villages.
Saleh Safarov was killed in action on 15 January 1993 during the battles in the village of Giyasli in Aghdam.
He was married and had two children.
